This is the motto that has been chosen by the promoters of the event “la Focra”: one of the most important events of Grottaglie’s tradition.
During the celebration of St. Cyrus, on January 30th, in Grottaglie two enormous pyres (foc’re) made with vine and olive branches are installed: the biggest one, in the square dedicated to the Saint, is turned on the evening of January 30th and its fire burns all night long. The second, smaller, is lighted the following Sunday, after the return of the saint’s statue to its usual location: the Mother Church of Grottaglie.
