University of Patras, Department of Environmental Engineering
The Department of Environmental Engineering was founded in 1998 with the name: Department of Environmental and Natural Resources Management and it changed name in Environmental Engineering in May 2019. The above Department aims mainly to offer a complete education program in Environmental Engineering.
Since its foundation the above Department has been committed to offer education and research of international standards in the scientific areas of Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science and Technology, and Environmental Protection.
The Department of Environmental Engineering has currently 12 faculty members who supervise the research of about 45 postgraduate students and about 10 postdoctoral researchers with an annual output of more than 50 refereed publications in international scientific journals.
The Department’s main objectives are the systematic study of the environment related with the Conservation of the Natural Environment, the Management of Land Uses and the Rational Use and Management of Natural Resources. The purpose is to prepare scientists able to study, understand and take care of the protection of natural environment and the management of land uses. The final goal is the rational and sustainable management and use of natural resources, the confrontation of environmental problems and the consideration of Nature Conservation and the Management in Natural, Urban and Rural areas.
