The city of Grottaglie is one of the most populous in the province of Taranto in Puglia, also known as “City of Ceramics” and “City of Grapes”. The town is located on the slope of Monte Samuele Pizzuto, a Murge’s hill in the hinterland of Taranto, on the Brindisi province border.
Its territory is characterized by the presence of “gravina”, a spectacular canyon naturally dug by rain, used since the Palaeolithic period as a shelter for men and livestock.
Grottaglie is known all over the world for its splendid ceramics, used both for sculptures and for everyday items, but it also offers the possibility to take wonderful walks totally immersed in nature.
